We’ve all been FDs or CFOs so we know what it takes to get there. We’ve also all been commercial leaders for global brands, and we show you what we learned outside of finance that we wish we’d known when we were in the big finance job.

I’m Andy Shambrook

I used to be finance director of Dulux Paints UK, part of ICI and then AkzoNobel.

I then spent 5 years in sales, marketing and e-commerce with Dulux. My final role was Director of New Business. I launched e-commerce selling direct to our consumers with home delivery, and opened up multiple new distribution routes with grocers, department stores, and even fashion retailers.

In 2014 me and my best friend raised £500k venture capital and launched a spend anywhere gift card powered by MasterCard.

Also in 2014 I started a finance business partner training business, developing over 7,000 FBPs in more than 300 companies across the World.

And in 2021 I launched NEXTFD to develop a new generation of commercially focussed FDs and CFOs.

It’s for finance people but it’s not a finance programme. I’ve designed it to show you what I learned in sales, marketing, e-commerce and a VC-backed start-up that I wish I’d know when I was a FD.

And I’ve gathered a select team of people across the World with similar backgrounds to me to offer a truly global solution.

I founded the company in the UK in 2014, and developed our unique approach based on my personal experience. I have personally trained over 5,000 FBPs all over the World.

Damian Smith

I have spent 25 years in the corporate world working in very different business cultures in oil & gas, retail and Vodafone, O2 Telefonica, Virgin, BlackBerry and Sony. This included experience in the UK, Germany, Nordics, Canada, Tokyo and many countries in Africa and the Middle East. Most of my time has been in commercial finance, but latterly also with HR and legal responsibilities and finally realising an ambition to make the switch to sales and marketing.

Paula Kensington

I’ve been a CFO at 3 different business in Australia so know what it takes to get there, stay there and perform. My focus has always been on developing strong teams and inspiring them to do what they did not believe they could. I also specialise in helping women navigate what can still be a male dominated World, but do so as women – helping them to bring heart-centered leadership to the board room.
